45th’s Latest Punchline: #MeToo & Racial Slurs

During a campaign rally on July 5th, President Donald Trump–who has been accused of sexual harassment by numerous women–mocked the #MeToo movement and used a racial slur while attack Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren’s heritage. Even though this is not the first time Trump has addressed sexual assault so lightly, doing so alongside a racial slur against Native Americans is especially noteworthy as Native American women experience alarming rates of sexual assault. According to RAINN, Native Americans are twice as likely as any other group to experience sexual assault with 86% of reported cases committed by non-Native men.
