Building the School Girls Deserve in New York City

The Brooklyn-based nonprofit, Girls for Gender Equity (GGE), believes that cis girls, trans girls, and gender non-conforming individuals should feel safe to learn and grow in their school environment. Research has revealed that insufficient policies and hostile tendencies against marginalized groups in schools often lead to suspensions, expulsions, and arrests for vulnerable youth. Their current mission is to create a school that girls deserve in New York City. Among their goals is to ensure equal protection for students in public schools through Title IX policies and to implement a citywide dress code that celebrates bodily and cultural diversity in order to promote self-expression.
