How Black Women Can Build Wealth


Though African American women are some of the most educated and actively engaged groups, they still make just 63 cents on the dollar.  To combat this, and inform more black women on the importance of financial literacy, U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, “co-chair and co-founder of the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls, hosted a symposium at Chicago State University.”  Attendees were taught negotiation skills, financial empowerment and security, and the positive impact that comes from utilizing “care networks.”  Speakers also discussed investing tactics, and encouraged investing in companies that promote gender equality through “corporate policies on equal pay, paid time off, percent of women workers and women in leadership positions.”
