Internet Equality: Fighting For A Feminist Internet

According to Amnesty International, more than 1 in 5 women in the United Kingdom have encountered online abuse. Increasing changes in technology deeming women as submissive such as artificial intelligence (AI) assistants and sex robots can make the internet a troubling space for women. Originally a ten-day project at the University of Arts London, the safety of women in technology is being studied by Dr. Charlotte Webb and her team as part of the Feminist Internet movement. Webb aims to address the issues of gender inequality in technology by breaking down gender barriers and taking steps towards constructing an equal internet.
