Invisible

He closed the door…

“It was so long ago!”

I tried to…

“She’s still stuck on that?”

No one heard me.

“What, are we going to ruin a man’s life over this?”

He said.

She said

She said.

She said.

She said.

She said.

“But HE SAID…”

No one hears me.

“It was so long ago.”

“His life will be ruined.”

“He has so much ahead of him.”

No one sees me.

We’d rather talk about him

Past, present, future

Than her trauma then

Than her invisibility now

Then her lack of justice ever.

We exist under a system

That presumes women are liars.

One that punishes those who come forward

And silences those who speak up.

He said.

She said

She said.

She said.

She said.

She said.

He said.

So she disappears.
