June Squibb Takes Over the Diner in Broadway’s Waitress

Waitress has continuously made headlines for being the first Broadway show with an all-female creative team. With music by Sara Bareilles, the show has had enormous success playing on Broadway and in a national tour, and is soon to open on the West End. In a new twist to the show, Oscar nominee June Squibb will join Waitress in the gender-bending role of Josie– this role was originally written as Joe, the owner of the diner. Squibb will be the first woman to play the role of the diner owner; after all, who is to say that a woman can’t own the diner? June Squibb will play a limited engagement in the musical as Josie from November 19th-January 6th, 2019.
