Mormon Church Supports LGBTQ Support Group

In a move the LGBTQ group Affirmation is calling “historic,” the Mormon Church has donated $25,000 to the support group for suicide prevention training.  Though Affirmation was founded due to the stigma gay relationships found inside the Mormon community, suicide prevention is an effort in which the groups find a common cause.  This support marks a larger shift in the relationship between the LGBTQ Mormon community and the larger Mormon Church, in which compassion is a key value.
