Poor Representation of Women in Pakistani PTI Government


Although women comprise 50 percent of the Pakistani population, only four women have been appointed to 62 available cabinet seats in the new PTI coalition government. Female activists such as Farzana Bari have protested against the exclusion of women from the political decision-making process. Political parties such as PTI portray themselves as supportive of women's rights and progressive causes, but fail to enact these principles in reality.
