Techbridge Girls: A Nonprofit that Urges Girls to Use STEM for Good


The Nonprofit Techbridge Girls aims to “excite, educate, and equip girls in low-income areas,” particularly emphasizing girls of color. CEO Nikole Collins-Puri thinks that environmental education and STEM are two areas where young girls can become “more conscious stewards of the environment” while paving their way towards economic achievement. The interactive curriculum relates to current, relevant issues—after the Sonoma and Napa wildfires in 2017, for instance, the girls learned the ecological benefits of fire and how the soil regenerates afterward, and then learned from professionals how to clean up in an environmentally sound way.
