U.S. Government Revokes Transgender Women's Passports?
Transgender women Danni Askini and Janus Rose claim that, despite possessing passports that mark them as female, the U.S. government has refused to renew their passports until they supply more proof that they have transitioned genders. Askini has possessed documents that identify her as female for 20 years, but only now has their authenticity and validity been challenged. Rose attempted to renew her passport after legally changing her name, but her forms were rejected, and she was told that the change in her gender marker was somehow a mistake. However, a cisgender friend legally changed her name and recently renewed her passport without difficulty.
