US Navy Changes Hair Policies for the First Time in 8 Years

In an essay by Lt. Tiffany D. Pearson, Pearson describes the excitement and gratitude for the US Navy’s updates regarding acceptable natural hairstyles for black women. The first major policy change Pearson has seen in eight years regarding natural hair includes the ability for black women to wear their hair in braids, ponytails, and locs.  Although there is a ways to go in terms of equality for black women’s hair, the US Navy is taking big strides in the right direction.
