Women Find Support in Community Organization

For the members of women's group the Sheffield and District Afro Community Association, “each one teach one” is their motto. Though open to all, most of the members are black women. The community group offers a place where the women can find support and bond over shared experiences. Started by political activist Dorothy Dixon-Burrow in the 1980s with the goal of bringing women together, the group goes on outdoor trips together as well as commiserates on serious topics like their health and other struggles.
